Social Justice Studies is a course taught to 4th - 8th graders. This class provides a place for children to discuss various issues in their own lives as well as in the greater community and explore the ways in which they can stretch their thinking, respect others' perspectives and possibly choose to affect positive change.

Specifically, our goals through this project are:

  • To grow socially aware children who are committed to social justice in our schools and communities, and become agents of change.
  • To raise awareness and translate that awareness into actions - small and large..

The scope of the course moves through 6 elements:

  •  Self Love and Knowledge
  • Respect for Others
  • Issues of Social Injustice
  • Social Movements and Social Change
  • Awareness Raising
  • Social Action
