On Beauty and Resilience

April 16, 2025

Dear St. E’s Community,

Spring in Colorado is a season of contrasts — one moment, warm sunshine; the next, a swirl of unexpected snow. It’s a familiar dance between looking ahead to what’s blooming and honoring the path that brought us here. This rhythm mirrors what we see across campus each day. Whether it's middle schoolers creating posters and infographics on topics they feel passionate about, fifth graders proudly reading their rainforest stories to families, or second graders learning how to nurture tiny seedlings, growth is happening all around us — steady, quiet, and deeply meaningful.

The gathering of seeds, the hard work of planting them, caring for them, and their resilience to survive frozen ground and peek through when the time is right. It’s a time that often reminds us of what’s important in life and to take stock of what’s around us: to show gratitude for the beautiful things in our lives. Earlier this week, I overheard students thanking one another — from friends who helped them with something hard to a book recommendation they now love. These moments remind us how much beauty is already here.

In the same light, as we celebrate Easter and the conclusion of Passover, both of which represent renewal, we’re invited to welcome the season’s shift from winter to spring. For some in our community, these holidays hold deep significance; for others, this season may simply be a time for reflection and growth. Either way, it’s a wonderful opportunity to learn from each other’s religions and family traditions, and once again celebrate what makes us different, which ultimately brings us together.

As we move through this season of renewal, may we take time to notice both the beauty around us and the effort it took to get here. Let’s reflect on the hard days that helped us grow, and celebrate the people — young and old — who make our days a little brighter. And let’s carry that spirit beyond our school walls, sharing what we’ve learned and who we are with the wider world, one kind and intentional act at a time.

Best foot forward,

Adriana Murphy
